Established in 1878 with rich traditions as our grounding, Gowrie State School strives for excellence, seeking positive and purposeful forward looking pathways, informed by data and responsive to change.
Gowrie State School is a family friendly school with a wonderful community feel. Situated between Toowoomba and Oakey, just off the Warrego Highway you will find our school nestled in the hills of Gowrie Junction. Our school has a wondeful aesthetic (with a history of participating (and winning) in the Carnival of Flowers.
We pride ourselves in providing a welcoming and enriching learning environment where our students strive and thrive. We are not enrolment managed, so our students come from the surrounding area, including a variety of suburbs of Toowoomba. This adds a rich diversity to our school community and makes our partnerships more valued.
Our academic achievements are supported by a proactive approach to Wellbeing and Behaviour Management. We actively teach prosocial skills through the You Can Do It Program, and support the Student Code of Conduct by implementing Postive Behaviour for Learning researched principles and practices. A commitment to knowing our students, planning and teaching for high expectations and investing in parent and community involvement has positively impacted improvements in student learning outcomes. We are well regarded by our neighbouring schools as a school with strong foundations and innovative thinking.
Our vision statement is more than a statement as it is enlivened every day in every class room. At Gowrie State School we will strive for at least one year’s growth for one year’s schooling for every student.
Welcome to our school and the Gowrie school community.
