Our Values
Our motto 'Dignity in work and play' captures our commitment to the shared obligation of preparing young people to make their way in the world as confident, caring and responsible citizens. The Gowrie 5R's- Respect, Resilience, Responsibility, Rigour and Relationships are key teaching and learning components of our Gowrie daily school life. We have blended the character building approach- You Can Do It, with the Positive schools approach-Positive Growth Mindset to ensure the Gowrie 5R's grow a future pathway for every student.
Our Gowrie Teams
MALT
Management and Leadership Team: To add value to school operations. A forum for making strategic decisions. Identify and resolve strategic issues. Share information and expertise. Ensure alignment with DET Policy and Procedures. All are visible supportive and responsive actions proudly lead by MALT.
LLI
Leading Literacy Improvement: Prioritise key focus areas for improvement. Draw upon the High-Impact Teaching Strategies resources to broaden and deepen teachers’ pedagogical repertoire. Ensure Gowrie staff have access to and use, evidence-based guides, advice, professional learning and formative assessment of student learning to inform teaching practice across curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy. All are visible powerful peer and collegial actions proudly lead by LLI.
PACE
Parent and Community Engagement: Genuine parent engagement exists when there is a meaningful relationship between parents and teachers with the shared goal of maximising learning outcomes for students. Strengthen our school's engagement between students, teachers, parents, support staff and the community with the Parent and Community Engagement Framework. We look forward with pride to cultivating this partnership.
Positive Schools
To provide solution focused ideas and strategies for nurturing wellbeing, positive growth mindset and a love of learning and school life in our Gowrie students. To research and share ideas that will shape our classrooms to offer every student the opportunity to flourish- character, behaviour, academic, social, emotional.
WHSW
Workplace Health and Safety and Wellbeing: Meet our obligations to provide a safe and healthy workplace for staff, students and community. Through planning, assessment and review, professional development and training, systems and processes, the Committee aims to strive for-A safe place of work. A safe system of work. All are visible and purposeful actions proudly lead by WSHW.
LCC
Local Consultative Committee: Proudly working within the Gowrie State School Terms of Reference and consulting about issues affecting employees’ working conditions.
SWANS
Students With Additional Needs: Is the forum where individual student concerns and needs are discussed. We gather input from all stakeholders and collaboratively draw on the expertise of the group members to develop plans that best match the needs of our students.
STEM
Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics Champion and Mentoring-a forward moving pathway.
