There are many different channels for communication with the school.

Phone: 074698 6888                Visit in person: 22 Old Homebush Rd, Gowrie Junction

Email: admin@gowriess.eq.edu.au             Office hours: 8:15am - 3:15pm

By appointment

Before and after school times are very busy for teachers, and staff are not directly contactable during class time.  To ensure our undivided attention please ring the school office and request an interview or return call.

eNewsletter

The school newsletter is published via email, each Friday.  The newsletter contains reports on school events and happenings, but also contains information regarding upcoming events, P&C matters, and date claimers.

QParents

This app is awesome for parents!  It significantly assists with ease of payment and accessing your child's information. More information here.

Email

Email communication is regularly used to cater for busy lives and busy people.  However, please be aware that staff may not be in a position to read that email and respond for several days.  They also respond during the working day only.

SMS

SMS is used to notify parents that their child is away without explanation.  A reason for absence from school must be recorded for each day of absence.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

Parent teacher interviews are formally offered twice a year.  At Gowrie State School our interviews are held in last week of term 1 and term 3.  (Report cards are issued on the last day of the semester - end of term 2, and term 4. ) Time management requires 15 minute timeslots per child.

Parent teacher interviews are a great opportunity to discuss your child’s achievement and progress with the curriculum with their teachers.  To ensure the interviews operate on time, and to enable everyone to have the opportunity to meet with staff, please ensure you:

  • Arrive with enough time to locate your child’s teacher, ready for the interview.
  • Understand that the intended purpose of the interview is for teachers to provide you with an update on your child’s academic progress and learning development.
  • Respect the time of Gowrie State School community members and staff by meeting with your child’s teacher within your scheduled time.
  • If you have concerns, teachers may need additional time to consider the matters you have raised. Please contact the office to book a separate meeting time if the matter is not able to be promptly addressed during your scheduled interview.
  • Use polite and respectful spoken language.
  • Be compassionate when interacting with others.
  • Inform staff if the behaviour of others is negatively impacting you.
