There are two sporting houses at Gowrie State School - Hughes and Isaacs.
Hughes House's colour is bottle green, while the Isaacs House colour is yellow.
Student placement into a school house is determined post enrolment. If there is a family legacy (e.g. current siblings, multigenerational attendance) the school will place the child in the same house. Otherwise, it is simply a matter of numbers being as even as possible.
A little history:
Henry Hughes and the Isaac brothers specifically Henry Edward Isaac and Frederick Nevill Isaac, were early settlers who took up the Gowrie pastoral station on the Darling Downs in 1841, establishing the area's first European presence and giving the Gowrie Junction area its origins. Their extensive property along Gowrie Creek was a significant part of the early settlement and development of the region.
